We've got a pair of private investigators as well as an amateur sleuth and a story

from one of the Masters of Crime Fiction.

Up first is Natalie Masters is one of my favorite radio gumshoes, Candy Mattson,

the beautiful Seamus who calls San Francisco home.

She stars in Valley of the Moon, originally aired on NBC on December 17th, 1949.

In this episode, Candy is off to ring in the New Year at a Dude Ranch with her friend Rembrandt

Watson.

But even when she's trying to get a little R&R, she can't help getting involved in a murder.

Then we'll hear a pair of adventures of Phyllis Coe, Phil, for short, a private detective who followed in the footsteps of her criminologist father. She headlined the syndicated series Phil Co. Radio Mysteries, a clutter play on the name of the show's sponsor, Philco Radio and

Television Corporation. The 15-minute syndicated series was a clever combination of mystery and quiz show.

In each episode Phil Koh solved a crime and listeners at home could win fabulous cash

and prizes if they could explain how Phil arrived at the

solution to the mystery. To play the game they needed to listen to the show each

week and visit their local Philco dealer to pick up a copy of the Philco Mystery
