detectives. On this week's show we're going to take a look at the sillier side of

super sleuthing with some radio gumshoes who mixed comedy and with their crime

fighting. Of course jokes and one-liners weren't uncommon in the adventures of

Sam Spade, Philip Marlow, and Richard Diamond, but the detectives will hear today leaned into the laughs and more light-hearted crime capers,

sometimes accompanied by laugh tracks.

Up first is a broadcast from CBS Forecast, the series that presented pilot episodes for programs that could potentially spin off into radio shows.

Two long-running programs came out of their initial entries on forecast,

the sitcom Duffy's Tavern,

and Radio's Outstanding Theater of Thrills, Suspense.

Sadly, the show will hear today did not make it to a series.

It was a detective comedy in the vein of the thin man with a husband and wife duo who traded

clever quips in between searching for clues. The series would have been called

Deductions Deluxe,

and it starred screen comedians Adolf Manjou as Detective Roger Boone,

and Vareid Teesdale as his wife Twyla.
