Summary

http://www.tropicalmba.com/artofthedeal/ A few months back, Dan and Ian shared a conversation on this show about a failed negotiation that Ian was involved in for a used car.

The response we received about that episode was pretty overwhelming, and the results were unanimous: people want to hear more about these types of dealmaking situations.

In pursuit of that information, we decided to invite a very special guest on to the show.

Corey Reuth is Ian's mentor in the world of wheeling and dealing. Over the past few years, Corey has greatly influenced the deals that Ian has made, and he has helped save Ian thousands of dollars.

On this week's episode, Corey shares his stories, tips, and strategies about what it takes to make killer deals.

These tips don't just apply to car sales, either. We believe that anyone that's listening to this episode can learn something that can help them make a deal and that learning these techniques can help you make great strides along your entrepreneurial journey.

Now a few months back at the end of TMBA 405, we had an added extra tagged on to the end of the

0:52.0

episode, which was way more popular than we thought it was

0:55.7

going to be. That was simply, Ian, talking me through the anatomy of a failed car deal that he

1:02.0

was involved into. And we're going to link up to this so those of you that haven't listened to it

1:06.1

can go hear it. And the response was incredible, Ian. Were you surprised by how many emails and people reaching out to us directly that we got from that little vignette? Yeah, I guess what I didn't realize and why I'm so excited about today's show is, you know, I just thought that the process really related to what we do in business, Dan. I mean, it's just cutting a deal. It's the art of a deal. It's figuring out ways to connect with people. And so, you know, that's stuff that I do every day in business. And then that's also things that I do when I'm trying to buy cars. I think a lot of people listen to that episode. And although they're doing deals every day in their business, they were astonished, I think, at the similarities, but also in the differences when you're

1:45.1

doing a deal like I did with the car.

1:47.6

Maybe it's that when we heard your story, you had like found the essence of the deal.

1:53.4

It like distilled it in a simple way because in business it can be so complex.

So when you hear how you're negotiating terms, how you're trying to get a lower price,

2:02.8

what information you're revealing when, these are all things we do in our business every single

day, but they're messy. So when you hear about like a transactional deal like you were involved in,

2:12.8

all of a sudden you're like, man, I could really use that, you know? And so what listeners

started writing to us and they were saying, like, we want to could really use that, you know? And so what listeners started writing
