Hello, everyone. Welcome to We Hate Movies. Thank you for tuning in. As always, and that's right, as you heard up top, we are very delighted to welcome in studio today, friend of the show, Jimel Bowie.

You may know him from being a CBS news personality. He used to run for Slate magazine, The Daily Beast, and now, of course, The New York Times' opinion column. How are you, buddy?

I'm doing pretty good. Thank you guys for having me.

Yeah, no, this is really cool.

Now, this was, I think, kind of technically your pick. So, yeah, I'm sort of curious what your history is with the movie and how your love for it came to be.

His movies with this movie is extremely shallow. I've seen it just a bunch over the years.

Right.

I think I probably saw it for the first time when I was in high school, a bunch of friends I would always get together every so often, just watch a bad movie, watch something terrible until I saw it.

We like one night just like beans all this some party mask and movie is like that kind of nice.

And have been watching this movie on and off for a long time.

And I just enjoy it. It's, it's sort of, I appreciate that the writers, the director, everyone involved was like going for a very high concept thing.

Yeah, sort of die hard, you know, a bunch of people on a boat, confined spaces, you got terrorists, you got sort of like corrupt people.

And then for why not let's just throw in a lovecraftian beast. Let's throw in some like terror from the deep.

Yeah, that no one understands that will murder everyone on the ship.

Well, when you're watching different scenes in this movie, you're like, wait, which movie am I watching?
