Summary

Graeme Hall catches up with Liane from TV show Dogs Behaving Very Badly. They reflect on how her boxer Woody used to behave – jumping all over visitors, darting out the front door, and stealing balls from her son when he was trying to play with friends in the garden. They talk through how they managed to calm this excitable dog by teaching him how to slow down and control his impulses. The Dogfather also explains how similar principles might help a listener whose speagle gets very excited around her two young children. Do you have a question for The Dogfather? for the TV show Dogs behaving very badly. What was life like with Woody before I came to you?

1:23.7

Oh, it was pretty unbearable, really. I mean, we love him so much, but life was really hard. When I used to try and take him for a walk, I would be dragged out of the house. I couldn't even hardly lock the front door. He'd drag me up onto the street, up the steps onto the street, out into the middle of the road,

1:47.0

dashing just for the whole walk, he wouldn't stop or calm down the whole time.

1:53.4

When people come over, he didn't just jump up at them, he would be lunging at them and physically pushing people over. Small children,

old people, anybody that come into the house, he would be lunging at. And when men used to have

friends over, they couldn't go out the back to play because Woody would just be jumping at them,

2:17.2

taking the ball off them.

2:19.3

It was just constantly like that all the time.

2:22.3
