Pam North and her book publishing husband Jerry sprang from the pages of a popular series of

mystery novels written by another husband and wife duo, Francis and Richard Lockridge.

The North's hit the airwaves in 1942,

and they solved crimes on radio for over a decade.

Now, amateur detective shows can be a mixed bag.

For one thing, you have to have a healthy suspension of disbelief

and accept that average folks can stumble over a dead body every week. But if the show is well

written and you've got compelling characters at the center you can absolutely buy

into the far-fetched notion.

And in Mr and Mrs North, the titular couple
