And so I'm trying to like, I've been pretty good since Christmas at keeping the reading train rolling and always, I'm always in the middle of at least one or two books.

So that's, you know, that's a habit I'm trying to maintain.

So anyway, right now I'm in the middle of reading.

When the band played on, which is Michael Lee's biography of Randy Schultz, he was a trailblazing queer journalist in San Francisco in the 70s and 80s.

He wrote the first biography of Harvey Milk, the mayor of Castro Street.

He wrote the landmark AIDS book and the band played on, which, you know, yes, people have picked at it for various shortcomings.

But as a sort of history of an unfolding moment and sort of calling out

the various communities, both governmental and, you know, on the streets of people that could

have made things better in the early years of the AIDS pandemic and then didn't.

His stuff's always been very influential to me.

He also wrote a book about the history of gays in the military called Conduct

Unbecoming.

Anyway, so Randy Schultz looms very large in my life and as somebody whose work has

always been a lot to me.

So it's fascinating to read a biography about him and where he came from and

the stuff that he was dealing with as he was writing
