never forget my first experience with American Porter. I didn't even know that's what it was at

the time, but I was home for the Thanksgiving holiday and had turned 21 just a few months before,

and this older friend of mine knew that I was getting into craft beer, so he brought over this

six pack of Deschutes Brewing Black Butte Porter. Now, this was up in the Seattle area where

Deschutes brewing is widely available. Still, to this day it is. It blew me away.

So, you know, it's just massively different than the pale loggers and IPAs that I had been
