Summary

In her first on-the-ground report from Palestine, Abby Martin gives a first-hand look into two of the most attacked refugee camps in the West Bank: Balata and Aida camps. With over seven million displaced Palestinians around the world, hundreds of thousands are refugees inside their own country—many live packed into these refugee camps after being ethnically cleansed from their villages just miles away. 0:47.7	Today, there are more than 7 million displaced Palestinians worldwide.

0:56.6	Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees, known as UNRWA, tracks the dire refugees
1:03.6	situation where there are the highest concentrations. Thousands more are unregistered. In Lebanon,
1:09.7	UNRWA has registered 425,000 Palestinian refugees.
1:14.8	Syria houses over 425,000 as well. Jordan, which shares its greatest border, is home to 1.9 million
1:22.3	Palestinian refugees. But with those shockingly large refugee populations, an even larger number of Palestinians are
1:29.2	internally displaced.
1:31.2	More than 2.2 million Palestinians are refugees in their own country, blocked, in violation
1:36.8	of international law, from returning to the land they live just miles away from, packed into
1:41.8	camps.
1:43.2	These camps experience the highest rates of poverty and unemployment.
