This week we are expanding on and continuing a conversation that came up multiple times during

season 14, and that is a celebration a love song to if you will, ballads as lip syncs.

It's just very interesting how whether you go to a club or you're watching drag race, how

often ballads are just not used, and I understand at a club, right?

People are drunk, it's high energy, but we have some examples today, we have three in

particular, of ballads that I think work, and you can make a ballad work.

All you have to do is grab the audience, you have to just bring them into that world,

and they're going to be there, they're going to hoot and holler, they're going to tip,

and it's going to be great, and it's all about picking the right ballad, but then also

finding those little micro movements and emotions to really embody.

What I like about the three that we're talking about today, which are drag race adjacent

at best, but are not drag race performances, I think it kind of is three different examples

of what you can do with a ballad beyond just like a park and bark, but also the power

of a park and bark, you know, like I, I'm with Angie, I'm at my heart, at my core, I live

a park and bark, you know, if you can, if you can do a lip sync, where you just stand

there, and it's just your face, and like maybe some arms, Mary, like that's power.

Yeah, I mean, take a drink every time Latrice Royale's natural woman lip sync has been

mentioned on this podcast, but like it is on drag race, like I think other than like Kennedy

Davenport's screen light, I think those two are like the shining examples of like what

you could do with a ballad on drag race, but tastes for memory, I just want to throw in

there.
