Summary

With the advent of the Sylvia Odio series, we are pivoting back to (finally) finishing off the Mexico series. In the Odio story, we tell something tangential to Mexico City but vastly important overall. The story of Sylvia Odio is rarely explored in more detail and we do it here. And no,...it's not time yet for Sylvia Duran...that is coming next, but we're going to cover Sylvia Odio first. In the fourth episode of this mini-series , we continue to lay...

Welcome to JFK in The Enduring Secret.

I'm your host, Jeff Crudell.

Hello, everyone, and welcome back to the podcast. Today's episode is episode 314, and it's a continuation of the Sylvia Odeo story. It's part four.

In our last episode, we stood in the doorway of Sylvia Odio's Dallas apartment alongside her teenage sister, Annie.

We met the three mysterious men who arrived unannounced in the final days of September, 1963.

0:47.8

Two of them were Latin, introducing themselves by their underground war names, Leopoldo and Angelo. The third was a quiet, pale,

0:57.4

thin American, wearing a green or blue shirt. He was introduced to Sylvia by a name that would

soon be etched in the darkest pages of American history. Leon Oswald. The visit itself was strange and unsettling. The men claimed to be part of the

1:38.6

encounter into what renowned researcher Sylvia Maur called the proof of the plot.

1:45.8

And that, of course, was contained in a chilling phone call that happened after the visit.

So, without further ado, let's listen to the rest of episode 314 of JFK, The Enduring Secret.

2:16.1

We begin on the day after the visit to Sylvia Odeo's apartment.

2:21.6

Based on Sylvia's meticulous efforts to reconstruct the timeline, it is almost certainly Thursday, September 26th, or perhaps Friday, September 27th, 1963.

2:39.7

Sylvia is sure it was not the weekend because she had been at work all day.

2:45.3

Around 7.30 in the evening, after she has returned home to her apartment on Magellan Circle,

2:52.3

the telephone rings. Sylvia answers. On the other end of the line is a voice with a distinct Cuban accent. It is Leopoldo, the tall, talkative man with a receding hairline who had

2:59.2

stood in her vestibule the night before. At first, the conversation doesn't seem overly

3:05.6

sinister. In fact, Leopoldo starts off by trying

3:09.3

to butter her up. Sylvia later recalled that he was trying to get fresh with her, acting
