Well everyone, my name is Chip Payne and I am the Director for Lifestyle Christianity University.

I am here with Lance Wall now. Lance just actually taught at LCU. I mean phenomenal and powerful

impartation and teaching and we're here now and what I want to try to do Lance is give you an

opportunity to talk about for us as Christians in this moment in time in this age how do we engage

culture? Well first of all it's to define what culture is. There's a lot of confusion on that.

I remember once I got a text from Joseph Garland and Bishop Joseph Garland. It was probably 17 years

ago and I never answered it. It always bothered me because I was teaching on seven mountains and he

said what's the definition of culture and I really couldn't come up with a one that I liked so

I left it in open loop and it always bothered me because it was always something which I started

to go back to because we talk about culture we have to be a little bit more specific and say

what we're talking about is how to what are Christians called to impact the world around them?

So for instance politics is downstream from culture so everybody runs to politics is the big

issue and you'll see it now you'll see election cycles they get excited about but politics is the

spoils of another fight and it's what's on the campuses and what's in arts so if you look at

what's in education and what's in the arts community and entertainment that is going to shape the

culture downstream in terms of political development because the politics one guy said

think of it like an empty suit that's going to be filled with the person that matches the demographics

of what the voters want what shapes the voters culture what shapes culture academia and entertainment

to a great degree so look at social media and look at schools and think about how young people's

minds are being shaped they're literally being shaped by the pop idols these singers the

entertainers the movies the genres of entertainment the games that they play the social media they

engage in their peer group their classroom peers the curriculum the teacher and the school bar none
