wanted to test how long a human being could go without sleep.

So to kind of set the stage a little bit, World War II had just ended.

So the Russian government was, you know, just trying to prepare for any potential future wars

by building up their military and making sure that they had the best of the best and

something they wanted to test was that if they could keep soldiers awake for longer
