Byzantine.

It's a comprehensive walk-through of all the major political and cultural developments with footnotes

leading you to all the latest scholarship on the subject.

In parts one and two, we talked about aspects of the book's introduction which sets up who and what

Byzantine was. Today we get into the narrative. I picked out the topics I thought

would be most interesting to you, the listeners, and so I asked him about Justinian,

Heraclius, the Arab invasions, and then on to more recent quote-unquote events like the

collapse of the Komnenian system of government and the fourth
