Auburn coach Hugh Freeze, the other coach in this rivalry game on Saturday, has probably stepped in it a little bit when he's talked about the George Auburn rivalry, said some things that were awkward, that caused him some trouble.

We have some evidence this year that Hugh Free seems intent on not making that mistake again.

We'll lay it out for you.

Let me though begin this way.

I think a lot of Georgia fans were a little bit surprised by the point spread for Georgia going to Auburn.

We thought it was actually a more robust spread than some folks gave you credit for.

But George was only, depending on where you look, a three and a half or a four-point favorite at Auburn.

You don't necessarily have to bet the game to care about that.

It's more about the expectation for performance.

And a lot of odds makers think this will be a reasonably close game for Georgia on Saturday.

And what's even more interesting than that, one of the things that I like going back and doing is the first point spreads we see posted usually come around May.

Sometimes it's as late as July.

But that early to midsummer is when a lot of the sports books and places Vegas or online, they'll start putting out what they call their games of the year.
