but I knew no details about her case. And today I'm sharing the story of Amy Mahalovic. Yeah,

I feel like I've heard that name before, but again, I don't know any of the details. Yeah. Amy

Renee Mahalovic was born on December 11, 1978 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Mark and Margaret

Mahalovic. Amy had one sibling, an older brother named Jason and in 1984, their family moved to

a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio known as Bay Village. Amy's father Mark was transferred to Ohio because

of his job where he worked as a customer service representative for general motors. And her mother

Margaret worked for Tradyn Times magazine. Oh, okay. Yeah. Amy's family described her as a sweet

child who loved horseback riding. In 1989, Amy was in the fifth grade and attended Bay Village

Middle School, which I was like fifth grade in middle school, but I think like back then,

a lot of schools did start middle school in fifth grade. Yeah, I've heard different, like

sometimes I've heard of middle schools that start in fifth grade and then sometimes middle

schools are only like seventh and eighth. And then like in Indiana, I remember when I was there

for college, they had schools that were like basically like middle and high school. So it was like

seventh through 12. So I don't feel like that's not that weird. Like I've definitely

said heard that before. Yeah, I was just like, what? And I was like, oh, yeah, I guess I was kind of

something that they did back then. And I guess still do now. Yeah.

So Amy was incredibly bright and she was part of the school's gifted program.
