Hello, everyone, and welcome back to the podcast. Hello, everyone, and welcome back to the podcast. Today's episode is episode 237, and yes, it's the beginning of the Oswald in Mexico series. I don't know how it works in your house,

but most people that are married would have to tell their spouse if they were

going to Mexico for a week, and especially if they weren't taking their spouse with them.

Granted, some people might routinely travel for work, get on a plane on a Sunday night and

come back Friday night or something like that. Lots of folks do that in a modern economy,

or at least they used to do it before COVID anyway. But even if you're not asking for

permission, you're at least telling your spouse where you're going to be. It seems that our

little Marina, at least at first, didn't even know that her little Lee was going to Mexico.

Now, granted, Marina was in the latter stages of pregnancy when this was all going on,

and justifiably distracted, of course, by her own circumstance.

Mrs. Payne was back in New Orleans then, there to pick up

pregnant Marina and child and bring them all back to Dallas, where Marina and family could

safely be with Ruth for that last little bit of time before the new baby came. Lee actually did

most of the packing in New Orleans, putting their things

in Ruth's station wagon. A good husband, he was, I guess, at that moment anyway. And Marina and

child would leave first for Dallas. And that was literally the week that Lee left New Orleans to go to Mexico.

That is, if he really did go.

Ruth and Marina would leave first for Dallas before Oswald's departure, and Lee himself would sneak

off too, not far behind them.

Never to return to the little house on Magazine Street in New Orleans.
