Today's episode is episode 223, and it's a continuation in the series, the mini-series that we're currently in, about the radical right.

And today we use the entire episode to cover the National

States Rights Party, or NSRP. A special shout out today to all those mothers on Mother's Day.

Love you, moms. Author Michael Newton is perhaps the foremost authority on the history of the National States Rights Party, or NSRP.

Much of what you'll hear in this episode can be found in one of his books, dubbed the National States Rights Party, a short history of it.

Newton contends that for three decades, the National States Rights Party was the nation's most active

and most dangerous Nazi party. They chose a name for what was a self-explanatory connection to the

old South and a concept that was in full-blown revival in the 1950s as the civil rights movement

began to take shape. And perhaps, more importantly,

they chose this name for its innocuous nature. A cloak of a name draped over some of the most

dangerous and violent activities undertaken by domestic insurgents, taken to counter the inevitable march toward equality.

Its members fomented or participated in riots in at least six states, and they were responsible for a number of murders.

They involved themselves in acts of arson and bombings.

As I speak, the NSRP is now extinguished, but its legacy lingers on.

The fundamental elements of this organization's existence still serve as a framework today for hundreds of Nazi groups across the nation.

They read Mind Conf. They idolize Hitler. They dress up as if they were Nazis from

World War II Germany, and they dream of taking a shot at the final solution one more time.

They focus on the idea of a master race, Aryan superiority, and all of it is somehow supposed to

keep their own personal dreams of self-worth
