This is the last part of a three-part miniseries detailing the case of a serial killer who

terrorized Northern California in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Because the murders occurred on hiking trails in state parks, national forests and coastal

areas, he became known as the Trailside Killer.

This week I'll continue the story where I left off in episode 205.

We learned last time that over a period of just over one year in 1979 to 1980, three women

were found murdered on Mount Tommel Pius, a popular hiking spot located in Marin County,

California.

Investigators began to suspect that the murders may have been committed by the same individual

and they were dealing with the serial killer.

As more resources were allotted to patrolling Mount Tamm for the killer, he realized he would

have to stalk his next victims in a different location or risk being caught.

He next focused his attention on Marin County seashore and then further south to Santa Cruz

County where he continued his brazen daytime attacks on unsuspecting hikers.

This is where I'll pick up the story.

I'll end this episode and the series by detailing how his bold actions led to his identification

and finally brought him to justice.
