Good morning and welcome to the Increase Your Impact Podcast. I'm Justin Sua, episode 24. In 1990, David Letterman was

talking to Jerry Seinfeld, and Seinfeld was talking about how his new sitcom was going. And Jerry said

that NBC supplied the show with a team of comedy writers, but he didn't think he was getting much good

material from them.

And then David Letterman asks, wouldn't it be weirder if they were good? And Seinfeld says,

what do you mean? And Letterman says, wouldn't it be strange if they could all just produce

reams of hilarious material day after day? Seinfeld laughed and he said, that's right.

It's supposed to be hard. And what I love about that is this is a message for those of you who

are pursuing a goal, pursuing a dream, pursuing a championship, something difficult,

and you're getting frustrated that

it's difficult. Like Jerry Seinfeld said, it's supposed to be hard. The climb to the top is

supposed to be hard because if it was easy, everyone would do it. That's why it's so crowded at the

bottom and so wide open at the top. And I once heard a firefighter

telling me that firefighters don't complain about the fire. Boxers don't complain about getting

punched in the face. The reason they don't complain is because it's part of the job.

Firefighters know fire is going to be hot.

Boxers know they're going to get punched in the face.

You don't complain about it.

You don't complain about it.

It is what it is.

That's just how life is.

And so if you find yourself going through something difficult as a leader, as an athlete, as a coach, as a parent,
