Summary

Downhill bikes typically have 200 mm of travel, and enduro bikes around 160, but cross-country bikes could have anything between 65 and 120. Progressive and conservative bikes compete against one another at the highest level, and some of these bikes even seem like things you'd ride for fun. But where is the category going? And what do we think of the current crop?

Hello and welcome to the Pink Bike podcast. My name is Henry and joining me this week on the

0:16.1

news preamble. We have Mike and Alicia. So summer's been and done. We're getting into some wonderful

0:22.7

autumnal conditions and I have waterproofed everything I own and things are looking up. Alicia, they actually

0:29.9

had some pretty spicy weather at the downhill, although it turned out to be okay. They got

0:35.0

sun for the race. And I believe you've got all the news to fill us in about what happened with the weekends

0:39.8

racing.

0:40.7

Yeah, well, we're getting sort of to the end of the racing this season, but just a little bit

0:44.9

more before it's all set and done.

0:47.4

And it was actually a lot closer to home right now, now that we're in North America

0:51.1

and the racing's also in North America, so kind of cool to follow that way. At the Snowshoe Downhill World Cup, we saw Marine Cabaroo back on top, which is really

0:59.2

cool to see and also her second race in a row winning, so clearly she's back in top form,

1:04.0

and I'm just excited for her. And then we saw Nina Hoffman and World Champ Valley Hole right

1:09.6

behind her. So that, yeah, again, just

1:12.3

incredible racing on the women's side. And then the men's race was maybe even more exciting

1:16.9

with O'Sheen O'Callaghan taking actually his first elite win, which was also really cool to see,

1:23.3

followed by another Irish rider, Ronan Dunn, and then Dakota Norton rounding out the top three,

1:29.1

so not 100% Irish, but more than we usually see, so really good for them.

1:33.8

I was curious since, Henry, you've been at the racing scene quite a bit helping out the racers

1:39.7

and following along with the entire season.

1:41.8

What do you think they're feeling right now as the season wraps up and the pressure's on for one more race?

1:47.5

Well, I imagine there's a huge amount of fatigue. It's sort of, I don't know, I think towards

1:53.7

the end of the staff have traveled so much, the races are traveled so much, everyone's
