Of course, political parties, not in government, of course, or the opposition, the Labour Party, the Liberal Democrats and others are hailing it as Independence Day today, a chance to get rid of the dreaded Tories. Today, of course, is Election Day,

and the polls open here in the UK

in around about 34 minutes from now.

Now, this isn't live, of course,

and you might hear this later on,

but I'm recording it at 6.26am.

At 7 a.m., the polls open. From that time, from 7, the UK media,

the broadcast media will not be discussing or mentioning any issues around the election or they will not be reporting on campaigning.

You will get the traditional video imagery of the leaders going to vote in their constituencies,

but that's all you'll get.

The next you will hear about the election on the radio or the television

will be just after 10pm this evening when the exit poll is revealed.

What the hell is the exit pole, baldy? I hear you cry. Well, you probably know what it is anyway.
