Summary

Get ready to fall in love with one of my favorite people on the planet, because Megan Silianoff is this week’s guest. Megan was in town from Texas to host this month’s For Reals Meals, and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to interview her…in person. My first face-to-face interview for the podcast. And it all went down at The Thompson Hotel.

Megan and I talk about overcoming cancer (twice), the incredible and emotional process of adopting her daughter, and the book she wrote that chronicles it all (99 Problems But A Baby Ain’t One). The word “inspiring” doesn’t seem big enough to describe her story – so take a listen and let me know if you’ve got a better word for it!

Hey, it's Jessica Mernan.

0:09.0

It's the one part podcast, and I am bringing you lessons in next, in next level inspiration.

0:14.7

I don't know why I said it like that, in next level inspiration.

0:18.4

And if you notice, the intro song was a little shorter today because my

0:21.7

sister said it's too long and that she fast forwarded through it. I disagree. But I wanted to give her

0:27.8

one short one where she didn't have to fast forward. I'll be back next week. All right, this week's

0:32.4

guest is Megan Sillenoff. She is the author of 99 problems and a Baby Ain't One, which chronicles her story of

0:41.8

adoption, getting cancer twice, and her love of Jay-Z. First two topics, a little bit heavier than the

0:50.1

other. She also is the creator of the website, Greetings from Texas. And I was so excited to talk to

0:59.8

Megan because not only am I a huge fan of her book, I read it in two days. It's so incredible.

1:05.9

And it usually takes me weeks, months. I'm not going to even joke and say weeks. It takes me months to

1:12.0

read books. I read hers in two nights. It was such a good read. And not only do I love her book,

1:18.2

I just love her. She has been such an incredible friend and person in my life through my own

1:27.4

adoption process. I don't even really know where that well.

1:30.4

But we just connected and it was just, I don't know, it feels like we've been friends forever and

1:35.8

I'm so grateful to her. So this is the first episode I've ever done that I'm actually

1:41.1

face to face with someone. Usually I do these over Skype on the phone.

1:46.3

And it's a little different. We're at the Thompson Hotel, but Megan had just hosted a for real

1:51.4

meals there and I could not pass up the opportunity to interview her in person.

1:58.1

Okay, let's just get started. It's a good one. I love Megan.
