Our dead pilot this month is codependent, written by Mark Gross.

Mark was a writer and producer on Mike and Molly for its entire run.

He was also a writer and producer on Gary Unmarried and Man With a Plan and was the creator

and showrunner of How We Roll, which starred Pete Holmes.

Mark is such a well-respected and well-loved writer, and I was so glad to finally get him on the

podcast with this script about the codependent relationship between Nate, a somewhat aimless substitute teacher,

and Ed, the grandfather who raised him and how that relationship is challenged when Nate meets

a woman who could be the one. It's a show that was sold and written two times before ending up

here. Our lead playing Nate was Billy Gardell, star of Mike and Molly and Bob
