feel sexier, that porn is fun and it's adventurous and it'll spice things up. But actually

porn has a really devastating effect on our sex lives and that's what I want to talk about it isn't just a guy's issue

Did you know that the fastest growing group of porn users right now are teenage girls like in percentage terms not in

raw numbers okay because other groups have way more raw numbers but if you

look at which group is growing the fastest it's teen girls we need to get

ahead of this problem and we need to start addressing the fact that women use porn too.

And not just pornography, women read an awful lot of erotica.

There's a reason that 50 Shades of Grade became such a large-scale phenomenon and it really does impact our ability to respond sexually with our husbands and to be really intimate. So let's look at this.

Last week on the blog I ran a great guest post by Beth Nijhart on how she escaped a porn addiction and the comments and that were really interesting along with a lot of the emails I received. So I just thought this was a good thing to explore a little bit more. So let's start with how

porn starts, which is often in those teenage years, you're just starting to get sexual feelings,

sexual curiosity at that age is natural,

and then maybe you see porn, you hear about porn,

or someone shows you porn.

The average age of first exposure to pornography today is around 11 or 12.

So think about how young that is.

That's a girl who is just starting maybe to get her period,

she's just reaching puberty, all these changes are happening to her, and then suddenly she sees this image.

The reaction that most of our bodies have to something like that is biological.

Okay? A lot of people and it's quite natural to get aroused by stuff like that.

Even stuff you don't like and this is something that's so important to talk to teenagers about is that just because they get aroused by it,
