Joining us on rounds is Dr. Samuel Tisherman. Dr. Tisherman is a tenure professor of surgery at the University of Maryland

School of Medicine. He's the current director of both the surgical intensive care as well as the

surgical intermediate care units at Shock Trauma Center. Dr. Tisherman completed medical school at the

University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where he also completed his residency and fellowship training in surgical critical care. He also completed a research fellowship

under the tutelage of his research mentor, Dr. Peter Saffer. Sam's clinical interests are diverse and

include hemorrhagic shock, cardiac arrest, as well as hypotensive fluid resuscitation and

therapeutic hypothermia.

Sam is the recipient of numerous teaching as well as preceptor and distinguished service awards.

In fact, in 2009, he was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award and Trauma Resuscitation Science

Dr. Tisherman is involved and holds numerous leadership positions

and he is the recipient of no less than 25 completed grants,
