Summary

Hello, friends! I have a Q&A episode for you today. This is an extra special episode for a couple reasons. First off, I'm starting a new weekly tradition. If you share your favorite quote from the episode on social media and tag me, you might be selected to win a free copy of one of my books! Second, my nearly one-year-old kiddo, Leo was very present in this episode. I had to squeeze in the recording between other appointments, so you hear some babbling and such in the background.

In terms of the questions, here what I covered:

  • How can I move on from the guilt caused by ending family relationships due to an extreme fundamentalist upbringing?
  • How can I balance significant psychological issues and still be a good parent?
  • What can I do about my recurrent panic attacks?

As always, if you have a question for the show, please send it to duffthepsych@gmail.com

And so establishing consistency in routines can really help to combat that.

Basically what I'm saying is when you're feeling

0:14.0

down and unmotivated or you're just having these racing thoughts and agitation,

0:18.7

you want some sort of playbook, some sort of rulebook, what am I supposed to be doing right now and that's where the

0:24.4

routine comes in it's not always easy to stick to them when you're feeling those

0:27.9

ways but if you have some sort of guideline there it helps you understand what

0:31.8

your next step should be in any given day and just what to do with yourself.

0:35.3

Hey everybody, before we start the show I want to make a couple disclaimers.

0:39.3

This show does cover a wide variety of topics related to mental health and life in general and

0:44.0

some of those could be sensitive for you.

0:46.1

I want to simultaneously encourage you to be brave in consuming difficult content but also

0:50.7

respect and recognize your limitations.

0:53.0

So please use your best judgment.

0:55.0

I will never be offended if you need to skip a question or an episode entirely,

0:59.0

but feel free to feel it out, check out the episode and just see what happens.

1:02.0

If you need to skip, that's okay, but, you know, feel

1:04.3

free to give it a shot first.

1:06.3

I also need to say that while I am a psychologist, I'm not your psychologist and I'm not your therapist.

1:11.6

This is not intended to be direct medical advice and you should

1:14.1

not use this as a substitute for professional help. So with those said let's go ahead

1:18.2

and get into the show. I'm going to be free. All right.
