Happy holidays to you. It is your favorite time of the year. It is not, but that's okay because this is my favorite time of the month.

We record an episode.

And I love it when we record an episode on a film that is a big egregious tumor of a blind spot in my filmography, in my horror filmography, in my Canadian horror filmography.

And I am dying to hear what you make of this film.

It's a lot. It's a lot. I have my notes. You have your notes. I'm desperate to compare notes. But yeah,

we're talking about David Cronenberg's The Brood, a film which I realized that I'd long confused with the beyond.

And I was like, yeah, yeah, yeah, of course I've seen that. And they're like, Cronenberg. And I'm like,

oh, no. The film that I saw was decidedly not Cronenberg. And the brood is very Cronenberg.

Yes, it was David Cronenberg's third film. It came out in 1979 after Shivers and Rabid. And I think I'm coming to the

place in my life where right now anyway, the brood is probably my favorite Cronenberg.

You know, we've talked about the fly, the dead zone, you know, films like that. And he has so many others. We even did

something on a crash on our Patreon. And I have a lot of respect for so much of his oeuvre.

But I love Rabbit. I was working on, it hasn't been announced yet, but I did an essay for an

upcoming release of the brood for a label.

But I went back to it around this time last year and I was rewatching it and I was thinking about it and I was working on it.
