Hi, I'm John Paul Vasquez. Hi, I'm Travis Hunter. This week, we're recording live from the Cahiki Palms Motel discussing the 2005 horror

crime film, The Devil's Rejects.

0:45.0

This film was written and directed by Rob Zombie.

0:48.5

Serving as a sequel to Rob Zombie's debut film, House of a Thousand Corpses, The Devil's

0:53.1

Rejects gives us another chapter

0:54.7

in the saga of the Firefly family. Embracing his hatred of sequels, Rob Zombie set out to

1:00.4

make an entirely different film that could surpass the original. With the familiar characters

1:04.9

and a new cast complete with classic horror icons, the Devil's Reject sets itself apart.

1:28.8

So, what did you guys think about the Dev's rejects the first time you saw it? It was about 20, 21 when I watched this the first time. When it came out? When it came out? Yeah, and I did not care for it. I just, I don't know, man. It didn't do anything for me. And then watching it for the show,

1:35.3

it still kind of didn't do it. Do anything for me. But you didn't like House of a Thousand Corpses either. I didn't, but after watching this, I do a little more. Really? That is something just

1:42.3

very quickly that we talked about before we sat down, that watching this film again. Right. Because none of us had seen it in a very long time. We all wanted to retroactively change our House of Thousand Corpses score. Yeah. I think that's fair. And what's weird to me is because always growing up, well, no, because we loved both of them as kids. Yeah, yeah. But I think later on, whenever we talked about them, we were like, well, House of a Thousand Corpses is kind of the weird one that's like, okay. And the Devil's Rejects is a really good film. Yeah. But then after watching it again, I feel like I appreciated House of a Thousand Corpses more. And I was surprised. So what would you all give it now? I took a peek before we sat down and T and I gave it a 5.5 and you, John Paul, gave it a three. Oh, I give it a four. All right. Yeah, we'll give it one more. He's not going crazy here. What about you, T? I said just a little more.

2:39.9

I think I would move from a 5.5, honestly, legitimately, because I rewatched it last night as well.

2:43.3

And there is a weird, chaotic energy to it.

2:43.6

Yeah.

2:47.8

But there is like kind of the style of it is interesting.

2:48.3

Right.

3:10.4

And it's most of all, and we'll get to this in a bit, House of a Thousand Corpses is fun. Right, right. Yeah. And this movie's not enough. Not so much. No. So I think I'm going to move from a 5.5 to a 6.5. All right. I agree 100%. Okay. Yeah. I'm going to go. So we all just went up a point. Yeah. No, that's fine. So, all right. But T, what did you think? All right. So, I mean, as I said before,

3:17.8

I did have more of an appreciation for House of a Thousand Courses after watching this.

3:21.3

That's not to say that I hated this film. Yeah. I actually enjoyed quite a bit of this film. And then there was a lot of it that just flat out didn't work for me. Yeah. But I think that having watched it, what? Okay, so 2005, I'm 14, you're 15 or 16. Yeah. We're, this is like perfect for us.

3:41.0

Right, right.

3:41.4

Right up our alley.
