The gospel today encourages us to use this surreal time to understand not only how much God has forgiven us, but how absolutely essential it is to forgive one another no matter what.

1:02.4 | Namely, how often do I need to forgive someone who's hurt me? |
1:06.6 | Or perhaps for some of us, is there a limit to the deeds that we forgive somebody? Like, |
1:13.1 | certainly we don't forgive somebody for, like, abusing us when we were a child, or for cheating |
1:18.5 | on us, or something tremendously serious in our lives. But Jesus actually says, yeah, we do, |
1:26.8 | and we have to continually forgive. |
1:29.0 | So Peter asks the question, Lord, do I have to forgive somebody as many as seven times? |
1:33.7 | And Jesus says, no, Peter, not seven times, 77 times, which is more or less |
1:40.3 | Jesus' way of saying to Peter, stop counting. |
1:43.7 | And so he says to me too, |
1:45.2 | stop counting. Forgive all the time, every time, no matter what. And then he goes on to tell a parable. |
1:56.8 | So it's a story, right? That's the reason for the parables, because stories have a way of lodging in our minds |
