Summary
For many people, hiking the Appalachian Trail is the culmination of a lifelong dream. There may be issues that they don't want to face, they may be grieving the loss of somebody. For many, the trail is spiritual in nature. For Stephanie Lorenze, eating unlimited pizza was her initial motivation. Despite this unlikely catalyst, Stephanie grew to love the trail and everything on it.

She faced doubters at the outset, yet she pushed on, confidence growing in her own abilities to complete the journey.

She chose to define her own life and didn't permit the negativity to deflect her from the goal of standing on that brown sign at the top of Katahdin. In the end, she had the perfect answer to everybody who doubted that she would be able to get to the end.

| 1:16.4 | speak isn't as good as normal, as I've discovered this morning that the MacBook Pro does not have a |
| 1:21.5 | USB port, so I can't record on a normal microphone that I carefully packed and brought with me. Oh well, I guess that's showbiz. |
| 1:29.8 | So you got me speaking into my computer mic. It isn't too bad and shouldn't worry you too much. |
| 1:34.4 | I'll be trying to get an adapter to resolve this in the next few days. |
| 1:38.6 | This week's guest is Stephanie Lawrence, otherwise known as Sunshine. I actually found Stephanie on Facebook in my normal |
| 1:46.1 | sort of cyber-stalking when I was just browsing a couple of the AT Facebook pages. She finished |
| 1:51.2 | the trail in late August, and this was originally recorded in early September, by the way, |
| 1:55.4 | and I saw her post and immediately wanted her on the show. As you'll hear, she has a remarkably |
| 2:00.4 | inspiring tale to tell |
| 2:01.7 | and she proved that you don't have to be a long distance hiker to become a long distance hiker, |
| 2:06.2 | if that makes any sense. Anybody can do this. You just have to commit yourself to it. In fact, |
