Hello, fellow teachers, and welcome to another episode of gospel teaching. I'm Casey Griffiths,

your host. Now, a natural part of teaching is that you come to love your students. You become

involved in their lives and their struggles, and it can be a little harrowing watching them walk

out of your classroom and return to a cold and indifferent world. You do all you can to create a warm and spiritual environment for them,

but they always have to go back into the complexities of real life.

With this in mind, an important part of teaching can be helping them connect the world outside of the classroom

with the principles you teach inside the classroom. This can take the form

of a simple invitation near the end of a lesson, encouraging them to set goals, or just

find simple ways to live the principles of the gospel in their lives outside of the class.

After all, the whole goal of the Savior's teaching was to inspire women and men to make a change in their lives.

He taught, whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise

man, which built his house upon a rock. To further explore the idea of application,

in this episode, we'll talk with two excellent teachers, Susan

Porter, who was serving as the primary general president at the time of this recording,

and Scott Esplan, who was the Dean of Religious Education. Both of them can help us understand

how we can help students take the gospel from the classroom and into their own lives. Application
