Summary

Xpedition Cafe - Soyuz = Union originally aired on 2 February 2021 as Episode 251. This was the first of the Xpedition Cafe shows which were intended to be a Sunday night family show in a style reminiscent of old radio shows. My intent to was create a weekly show with live sound effects very much in the style of 1920s and 1930s radio, with a more modern influence of programs like NPR Fresh Air that was hosted by Terry Gross. The demands of time to prep these shows were too much to maintain on a weekly basis with daily programming at that time running between 5 and 6 shows a day plus Saturdays. 0:05.3	That's what this entire week is dedicated to. And I know I've said this a number of times,
0:09.2	but just for those people who haven't been following this week's episodes, this entire week
0:15.3	was sorted and selected by a team led by our two mods, Nikki and Janet in the UK, with input from others.
0:24.4	And the selection is over a span of about 3,950 episodes.
0:29.7	So I asked them to choose 11 episodes, and they did.
0:33.3	And it's a rather amazing journey as we go through this.

0:39.0	I'm giving is to try to put some of these shows in context. Today's episode is episode 251.
0:45.8	It was the first expedition cafe episode and it was titled Soyuz equals Union. This is a real
0:53.1	interesting episode for me to go back through and listen to.
0:56.0	There was a lot of new ideas that I was trying to experiment with.
0:59.7	It goes back something like 3,800 episodes or something.
1:03.0	So it's a long time back.
1:04.6	But what I was looking at was how we could go beyond just doing a daily podcast on news and
1:09.9	events and analysis of world events and how we
1:13.7	could bring something more important into our lives, the things that enrich us.
1:18.4	Expedition Cafe was launched on this show here, and this was originally launched on February 7th,
1:25.6	2021. This show did not last in the way that I had expected it to.
1:31.8	However, it has been revived in the American brand, which we now do every Sunday morning.
1:36.7	And I think it's reflective of the early steps in this podcast of my heart, which was to be
