running around looking for answers in a furnace.

In a hot, dark corner of some back alley, I found a shop called Guggy's home style brain amendments. Yeah. Didn't exactly fill me with confidence.

Because I knew it was going to be a risk. I asked myself over and over whether I could go through with it.

I'd heard all the stories about people who wanted to be a thousand times smarter or think five times faster.

So off they went to an illegal brain smith who poked around inside their skull.

Before you knew it, they'd wrecked every memory they'd ever had or walked

away with a new personality no one recognised. Because these places look like tattoo parlours

from hell, but it's not like getting a tattoo. Nah. It's more like letting someone stick needles

in your soul. But how else could I work out what was going on inside my head?
