Summary

Imagine being so good at something you are forced to retire at just 20 years old. After being the youngest caller ever to win the Senior World Goose Calling Championship at just 16 years old in 2003, his 2nd title two years later, & his 3rd title two years after that, Hunter Grounds was no longer allowed to compete in the World Goose Calling Championship. Episode 22 takes us back in time to the prime of Hunter‘s competition calling career & what he’d like to accomplish to cement his legacy as the GOAT.

Now, I know you were recently in Tennessee ripping lips on old big mouth billy bass. Are you back home in Johnson City now? Back home, buddy.

Yeah, Lake Chickamauga. It was a classic that there's a few little, they got different regions that they fish and, you know, certain, you get a certain amount of points.

And I think it's seven events and, you know, you qualify for that. But it didn't work as good as possible, you know certain you get a certain amount of points and uh right i think it's seven um and you know you qualify for that but it didn't work out as good as possible you know as we wanted but that's the way it goes that's fishing so how well you know you learn from the experience apply that knowledge next time all you can do right yeah i had a had a good time at it anyway how many anglers were in that tournament? 200, I think there's 250 teams.

Oh, man. So it wasn't no joke. Where would you have had to been to get in the money? We, a three-pounder. Yeah. So pretty close. I mean, yeah. Yeah, I mean, it, and we had it on. I mean, it just didn't work out, man. You know, had a lot of frog fishing.
