Today I am joined by one of the baddest, if not the baddest man, to ever up a goose call, Mr. Hunter Grounds. Hunter, how are you? Good, buddy. How are you? I'm doing good, man. I can't complain. Now, I know you were recently in Tennessee ripping lips on old big mouth billy bass. Are you back home in Johnson City now? Back home, buddy.

And what did you say that tournament was?

Chickamauga. Is that what you said?

Yeah, Lake Chickamauga. It was a classic that there's a few little, they got different regions that they fish and, you know, certain, you get a certain amount of points.

And I think it's seven events and, you know, you qualify for that. But it didn't work as good as possible, you know certain you get a certain amount of points and uh right i think it's seven um and you know you qualify for that but it didn't work out as good as possible you know as we wanted but that's the way it goes that's fishing so how well you know you learn from the experience apply that knowledge next time all you can do right yeah i had a had a good time at it anyway how many anglers were in that tournament? 200, I think there's 250 teams.

Oh, man. So it wasn't no joke. Where would you have had to been to get in the money? We, a three-pounder. Yeah. So pretty close. I mean, yeah. Yeah, I mean, it, and we had it on. I mean, it just didn't work out, man. You know, had a lot of frog fishing.

And, you know, anybody that fishes knows how frog fishing can lead. It can be a lot of just heartbreaks, you know. That's right. But they just don't get it. And you see him, but you don't quite hook up. No doubt. All right, Hunter. Well, let's get into it, man. Your father, Mr. Tim Grounds, is a waterfowl legend.

The man who he pioneered the short reed craze.

What was it like being the only son of the goose man?

Well, I mean, I feel real fortunate to have him as a dad and be able to experience, you know, of having him as a dad for 32 years.

But it was, it's just, he's one that he was always on a go.

And he called it like you seen it and uh whether you liked it or not um it was it was he was he was he definitely disciplined you and i mean it wasn't i'm not talking

discipline you just uh it was it was a different way of the he may eat you out you know

eat your rear end out but uh then again

when you did something right um he told you know he did something right but it was uh he'd do it and he'd

be over with and he'd just you know it'd be maybe 30 minutes later he'd come up hey i love you

know hey just you don't need be doing that kind of thing you know but um it was, I don't know, he didn't put his up on a pedestal.

You know, he always tell people, you know, he puts one leg in his pants at the time.

And when he gets up out of bed and he always, he always treated everybody with the same way that he wanted to be treated.

You know, he didn't treat one person this way or that way and treat the other one better or worse.
