On December 5, 2021, former Senator Robert Dahl of Kansas passed away.

Born and raised in Russell, Kansas,

Dahl served with distinction in World War II,

receiving a bronze star and a Purple Heart for his service.

It was that service that led Dull to spend his life working for veterans of his

did after his passing, including actor Tom Hanks, who supported the Dole family in various

fundraising efforts. Here's Tom Hanks eulogizing Bob at the World War II National Memorial.

And Bob Dole was the national chairman of that project,

raising almost $200 million.

Students from 1,200 schools across the country participated if you ever get to Washington, D. is a must see it wouldn't have existed without Bob Dole's efforts.

When Bob Dole fulfilled his duty in that war, which burned up half the world, the cost he paid was a hard one for him to bear.

He lost the use of a limb and part of his once strong shoulders on a cold mountainside in Italy to an enemy that was trying

To recover, Bob Dole lay in a hard plaster body cast for 39 months, roughly 1,170 days, aided by all those who cared for the wounded veterans of that war.
