Summary

Have you ever wondered what it's like to co-lead with family? Are you navigating a new partnership of some kind? Leadership is having influence over something, whether it's personal or professional. Matt Olthoff, a.k.a. my husband, and I co-lead The Father's House OC together. We are sharing our experiences and the lessons learned on: • Planting a church • Working together in partnership • What our leadership looks like • Defining individual responsibility Matt's heart for people makes him a great leader. His leadership has impacted me, in marriage and in building a church. We define what leadership is and how we're working together to redefine co-leadership in ministry as a couple. Creating equal opportunity for men and women in ministry is something we care about deeply. Matt empowers me to be a better leader and I am grateful for the journey we've been on. One thing we know for sure is that we are better together. My hope is that as you listen, you'll be able to hear a different perspective on co-leadership. Whether you're learning how to navigate working with people at your job or looking for ways to communicate better in your relationships, there's something for everyone in this podcast. God made us individually and with purpose and we all bring something different to the table. When we collaborate with others in the community, I believe that we can work at our best. Matthew Ray Oldoff, welcome to the show.

0:11.0

Well, thank you.

0:11.7

It's so good to be here.

0:13.8

It feels awkward because not only are we sitting across from each other in this interview in our house,

0:19.2

but what are we both dressed as today?

0:22.1

Well, it's Halloween. So I am going as Prison Mike and you are going as Dwight Shrewd.

0:26.6

Yes. So for those not familiar with the totally inappropriate show of the early 2000s of the office,

0:34.1

Matthew is dressed as Michael Scott. But this one episode is Prison Mike. So my husband is sitting

0:39.6

across from me with a purple bandana on his head. And I have gold-rimmed aviators and a bow tie

0:45.4

and a cassio watch because I'm dressed as Dwight Shrewd. Today we are an odd couple dress for

0:51.1

Halloween, but we're talking about something that is near and dear to both of our

0:55.6

hearts because I feel like we're pioneering something new. And we get to talk about co-leading.

1:00.4

And not just co-leading from like maybe a business perspective or an entrepreneurial perspective,

1:04.6

but we're co-leading as spouses. And so so much of your background has been in developing

1:10.4

leaders and pouring into leaders

1:11.7

and learning great leadership tools and tactics from so many amazing thought leaders. But for those

1:16.7

that are listening to the show, I want to take it from like a 30,000 foot view of what

1:21.2

co-leading, co-living, co-loving, all the same time looks like for us as a married couple, and I just want to

1:29.5

give you permission. We're saying this now. I didn't tell you this while it wasn't recording,

because this is going to hold me accountable. I want you to feel at liberty. I'm scared to even
