Summary

My heart doesn't tend to go towards giving thanks during the difficult circumstances in my life. Honestly, my heart doesn't automatically go to giving thanks even in the good times of my life. I’m reminded in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 that giving thanks in all things is God's will for us Ingratitude is a sin that fails to acknowledge God as the giver of all things. Gratitude is an attitude that honors God. It acknowledges that He is the giver of all things. In 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 it states: Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. We're given three exhortations in those verses: Rejoice, pray, and be thankful. Why? Because this is God's will. 0:26.3	Hello friends, I'm Marcy Farrell from thankful homemaker.com and I am so glad you're here with me today as we are going to dive and together really how and what it looks like to give thanks in all things.
0:42.0	So giving thanks in all things is God's will for us. We know this from
0:46.8	God's word and my heart doesn't always tend to go towards giving thanks
0:52.6	during the difficult circumstances of my life.
0:54.9	And if I'm truly honest here with you all,
0:57.9	my heart doesn't automatically go to giving thanks
1:00.5	even in the good times of my life.
1:03.0	I think about motherhood and how it reminds me that we are not born with a bent towards
1:08.6	thankfulness.
1:10.1	Not only am I dealing with my own grumbling and complaining spirit, now I have children who are pretty
1:16.1	good at it too. Our children don't come out of the womb with Thanksgiving on their lips.
1:21.6	I have lived this out with my kids but now I get to do it again
1:25.2	when I'm with my grandkids. How often did or do I have to remind them when they
1:31.6	were little's and bigs to say thank you.
1:36.0	It is learned and taught and a caught response.
1:40.9	So as much as I'm training my children and really now grandchildren to be thankful, I can
1:46.9	find myself at times living my daily life as it states in Romans 121.
