This is the season it's always a real thing. How are the days are coming?

This is a major, major deal. Four of the officers who were involved with the murder of Breonna Taylor were just charged by the Department of Justice arrested by the FBI and are currently in custody.

For their role not only in the murder but in falsifying the warrants and then trying to cover the whole thing up.

I'll unpack and explain what I know. I want to give a major shout out to my friends at Untill Freedom and all of the activists and organizers and attorneys across the country that fought to make this happen.

Let's also talk about what's not happening and who's not being charged and who needs to still be charged including the man who fired the fatal shots that kill Breonna Taylor.

I find days like this bittersweet and I want to say why Breonna Taylor is still dead. To Mikko Palmer her dear mother is still missing her daughter.

And yes, there were charges announced today but a charge is not a conviction.

Even a conviction is not justice because justice means you've now made everything even the scales are balanced and I don't know that the scales can be balanced here.

And so I am proud of the activists and organizers particularly my friends and the dear leaders of Untill Freedom who literally moved themselves all the way to Louisville lived in Louisville to fight for justice and accountability in this case.

But it's not enough and the primary officer who fired his gun and likely fired the fatal shots that kill Breonna Taylor was actually not even charged in in this shooting.

And while there were civil rights charges here, the federal government in these types of cases doesn't have the ability.

This is a kind of semi complicated legal issue here.

The federal government can't charge people with murder. That's not their jurisdiction. The local government, the local DA still could because there's no statute of limitations on murder and maybe in the future.

A new DA of Louisville will say actually I am charging this case but I've given you the bitter. It's not enough.

Breonna Taylor is still not here for her little sister is still not here for her mother.

All the people that should have been charged weren't charged. It's not a conviction. That's the bitter part. But the sweet part is it took years of people fighting day in and day out for this to happen.

And for there to be some measure of accountability. And this is that all of those efforts were not in vain.
