We did last week. Again, that's CRE capital dot com or text the word partner to seven, two, three, four, five. All right, let's get to it.

Today, let's talk about the power you get by giving away power. So what do I mean by that giving away power? If you're listening to me, I know you're an entrepreneur or certainly want to be an entrepreneur. And as entrepreneurs, we very often find the need to control everything or feel like nobody can do it as good as we can, right?

2:16.9

Well, what we very often don't realize is that nothing, frankly, could be further from the truth. The most successful entrepreneurs and business people on the planet know that they can do anything, but they can't do everything. Now, you've heard me tell you that probably ad nauseam that this business is a team sport and the most successful people in this business creating credible teams. They don't try to do it all themselves. Now, I had a call with one of my very successful warrior mentorship coaching students a couple of days ago. Now, he's a developer and he's a

builder and a property manager and even owns his own building supply company. And he called me because he was in an overwhelm. He didn't wasn't sure what to do because of this incredible growth. Now, after listening to what he was struggling with, one of the first things I asked him was whether or not he had an executive or personal assistant, he didn't. So that was the first suggestion of many that I made to him. Now, the best thing you can possibly do to achieve massive success. And then importantly, maintain that success or exceed that success when you plateau on your journey to be able to take

it to the next level is to delegate the things you shouldn't be doing. In other words, give away some power. President Ronald Reagan said, surround yourself with great people. Delegate authority or power to them and they get out of their way.

3:30.9

George S. Patton, the famous World War II general said, don't tell people how to do things. Tell them what to do and then let them surprise you with their results. Now, I'll tell you this.

3:40.9

That was something I struggled with for a long time because I'm pretty much a self-proclaimed control freak. It took me a long time to get this memo.

3:48.9

I always thought no one could do it as good as me and you know what a huge mistake that was. Now, there are people on my team that do things much better than I ever could.

3:56.9

Now, the important thing here, my friend, is to focus on and build your strengths and then delegate a line or partner for your weaknesses.

4:03.9

Remember, using the word team as an acronym means to gather everyone to choose more and that's a fact. But that said, what's also important for you to do is to not just give away work that you don't enjoy doing, but give away authority.

4:16.9

You want to let your team build their skills because if you just delegate tasks, you're creating followers. When you give people power and authority, you're creating leaders.

4:26.9

Now, as a leader, determining what you shouldn't do is as important as determining what you need to do. There's only so much one person can do. Now, that said, when you give away power and delegate, you're going to have some short-term setbacks or even failures as those people learn and grow.

4:41.9

But ultimately, you have long-term success and competence in your team. Now, another example is this dynamic is actually outsourcing different aspects of your business to other businesses when you own a business or if you own a business.

4:54.9

You'll get much further faster if you focus on your businesses core competencies and outsource the rest of it. Now, this inability to give away power or to delegate things is one of the biggest problems many managers have.

5:06.9

Managers and owners for that matter. Don't be afraid to empower your team members and let them figure it out because again, very often it'll be better than you could have done it yourself.

5:16.9

Now, we just had our quarterly leadership meeting with my thought leadership team a few days ago and my director of operations Camille was showing us the client journey because the focus of this particular meeting was how can we improve our client experience and make it better for our coaching mentorship students.

5:31.9

And she showed us the back end she created in our CRM and how she had created flow charts and client touch points and how she made sure to add a ton of value to them initially and then consistently.

5:41.9

And I was frankly amazed at the incredible job that she'd done. Now, this is a great example of what we're talking about here. Remember this. For everything that you don't enjoy doing, there's always someone out there who's great at it and actually enjoys it.

5:54.9

That's why it's so important to identify and then rely on the strengths of your team members. When everyone on your team is playing to their strengths and complimenting each other's weaknesses, success is a foregone conclusion.
