All right, let's get to it.

Today, I want to talk about the importance of developing and then implementing power habits. So what do I mean by that?

1:48.6

We all know that we have habits that project our lives either up or down. For example, what you eat or whether or not you exercise and so on and so forth.

1:58.6

Now, let's talk about how to be proactive to create incredible momentum and success in your life with power habits. So first, I want to chat a bit about how to form habits and then I'll give you some power habits that really amp things up for massive change.

2:13.0

Now, when it comes to effort, what's interesting is your mind doesn't like thinking hard, but instead prefers the easy route. And that's a fact. So habits like brushing your teeth or eating breakfast or routine for most people.

2:25.2

Since those activities only require minor thinking if any thinking at all. Now most of what you do in life are these simple routine habits. You wake up, you drink your coffee every morning around the same time, you walk through your house at the same pace, avoiding the couch or other obstacles in your path. Very simple habits.

2:43.4

Now, studies show that the brain looks for ways to save energy and effort and habits are created because our brains are always looking for efficiency.

2:52.2

Now, this makes it easier for you to complete tasks on autopilot, right? Now, I think you can see why this can be a really good thing as it relates to habits for success and health and strong relationships, etc.

3:03.4

And also why it has the potential to be a really bad thing as well. The interesting thing is that you can hack your autopilot to create a desired change that leads to massive results.

3:13.8

So how do you form habits that serve you? They're formed in a three-stage loop. First, there's a trigger, something that triggers you to take action and that trigger then pushes you into a routine.

3:24.2

Now, this of course is something that you do or perform and then that routine produces a reward like a feel-good result from your actions.

3:31.4

Now, to develop a new habit, you have to define a trigger that reminds you of the routine that you've decided on. And then after the routine is completed, you give yourself a reward.

3:40.2

Now, the trigger can be a location, it can be a person, it can be a specific time of day or even an emotion that you feel.

3:47.4

Now, a reward can be anything from a positive affirmation to yourself, taking the time to reflect and enjoy the accomplishment that's really pretty simple.

3:56.6

Now, this habit loop is how you develop lasting results and studies have shown that by applying this trigger routine reward loop for 21 or more days, the behavior becomes a habit, something ingrained in you.

4:08.6

So now let's talk about a hack or what I call for what I call these power habits, right?

4:12.6

Now, not all habits are created equal. Some habits can affect lasting change across a whole range of behaviors and these habits create small wins and become rewards in and of themselves.

4:23.0

Now, the first habit, let's talk about is planning. The key to developing good habits is understanding the will power involved. And when you get into the habit of planning, you define what your routines will be ahead of time and you make it much easier for your brain to be efficient, which is what it likes, right?

4:38.2

Don't struggle about what to do in any given moment, just plan on what you'll be doing.
