Hey, everybody, it is Social Contract Day here on the show.

You knew this day had to come at some point, and now here it is.

I want to talk about this idea that you get thrown at you

all the time, and that, of course, absolutely permeates modern political thought. And it is the

suggestion that really government is something we have consented to. It's not something being

arbitrarily imposed on us by an arbitrary group of

people, but to the contrary, it is something we have consented to, and because we've consented to it,

a lot of libertarian complaints are thereby invalidated. That's the short version of the argument that we're going to hear from an

awful lot of people. And you hear it from your friends, you hear it on Facebook, you hear it all

over the place. You hear it from our critics. It's everywhere. So I thought it might be useful to

say a little bit about it. But this really, this is such your lucky, this is really your lucky day, not just because

we're covering the social contract, but also because it's two episodes in one.

I, you know, I've talked about the social contract before, so I'm going to actually share

with you a few minutes from a video that I did on it, and then I'm going to add my further
