Summary

Last week it was discovered that Jon Gruden, head coach of the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders said about as ugly and anti-Black a remark as someone could make. And he kept his job. His team defended him. Then it was just discovered that he said some homophobic stuff as well. And that was just too much. This was the main idea of Dave Chappelle’s latest Netflix special. Let’s talk about it.

Early this morning we learned that Raider's coach, Raider's football coach, John Gruden resigned.

After it was revealed that he wrote scores of emails that were openly homophobic and misogynistic.

But he kept his job when perhaps the most disgusting email revealing his anti-black racism was revealed.

I want to unpack and explain it. I want to talk if I can try to wait in to some of the controversy around Dave Chappelle's latest Netflix special.

Because in essence this is exactly what Dave Chappelle was talking about.

Our John Gruden was allowed to keep his job when it was found that he was only racist.

But then lost his job when it was found out that he was also homophobic.

I have some mutual friends with Derek Carr and I've always heard that he was a pretty good dude with a good heart.

I was blasted for the op-ed particularly by Raider's fans, white people in general.

And their critique was this because in the article I talk about how John Gruden was saying the most ridiculous things to defend the discovery of an email where he said Dima Reese Smith, who was the head of the NFL players union, he said that Dima Reese Smith had lips that were bigger than Michelin tires.

He was openly racist, overtly racist. He continued to bend over backwards to say that it wasn't.

It was. Then the quarterback for the Raiders, a white man, came out to also say I don't think John Gruden has a racist bone in his body.

And so Derek Carr, who could have said something profound to stand up for his black teammates, the majority of the players on the team and the majority of the players in the NFL are African American.

And instead he came out to say, Hey, I don't have a racist bone in my body. And I don't think the John Gruden does either.

And then it was revealed that over the past 10 years, John Gruden has written bigoted email after email after email. And that's just email to one team.
