Welcome back to the Strong Life podcast. This is your host, Zach Ebeneh. This is episode 500. We've got a great episode for you today. I did an Instagram live yesterday with my buddy Shane Sweat. We did an Instagram live or it may have just been a Zoom call. I think it was Instagram seven or eight years ago.

And I didn't even realize it was that long ago. It was episode 150 something.

Pretty crazy. And so yesterday, we were texting back and forth talking about, hey, we're getting older.

How's stuff with the business going, what about your

own training, what about your family? And so him and I were talking about these things. I said,

man, we need to share this stuff because here we are creeping up on each 50. Here we are

thinking differently about strength training with regards to athletics, strength training

with regards to getting older, quote unquote, and had to share it.

But I'm just going to give you a couple of little topics or some of the sub-tops we talk about.

Number one, speak about the white belt mentality and even having a white belt mentality when you achieve the black belt

spoke about early days martial arts so if you're in your 40s and you grew up in the 80s and

90s back then these martial arts schools really had a lot of purity and the way to learn was something very special that we discussed.

So I think you're going to love that one, especially in this digital age.

I spoke about joint health, things that Shane says he would have done differently,

knowing what he knows now compared to his earlier years of competing in powerlifting.

Question I had for Shane as we discuss, how come only two people in the world have achieved

the 3,000 pound total? And Donnie Thompson did it in his 40s. And so Shane brings up some of the

other strongest power lifters who also achieved their peak lifts in their mid-40s.
