Before we begin today's episode of Paros, just a few quick announcements.

First, it is the first episode of September, meaning that it is donation time.

Here are Paros, each month we pick a new charity and donate one dollar for each patron

that we have at our team at patreon.com slash Paros.

And at the time of recording, we have 478 patrons, meaning that we are giving $478 to a charity,

and that charity is the Ghana Educational Collaborative.

This charity came as a suggestion from listeners Zoe Monroe,

and it's a charity that supports scholars in Ghana with financial aid and vital resources.

So the money that you donate covers things like class fees and exam registrations and textbooks

and college tuition and food and other outside support, all sorts of things like that.

What's really cool about the program is that they take students in Ghana

that have been recommended by their teachers as high-achieving students,

but these students are in tough financial situations.

Like one student, for example, Godwin lives with his mother and father

who are looking over 13 members of their family in the same household.

So financially, it's just not feasible for him to go to college,

but this charity allows him to do so.

you can learn about all of the students in this program.

They're currently 14 of them, and they are amazing.

So this charity is really great.
