dot com slash Jack. So tonight I want to talk a little bit about the perfume of the darma travels and darma is a word that means teachings or it means

the way or the dao it has a lot of different meanings and I'm very happy to be back because I've been traveling and away for many Mondays.

And now I'm about to go and have my own retreat and sit for part of the month of March.

And often on Monday nights when I've taught over these years, I'll do teachings on some of the central Buddhist

principles, the foundations of mindfulness or the four noble truths or on compassion

and loving kindness and forgiveness and how they work and so forth.

But tonight, because I've had a number of interesting Darma encounters and interesting lessons of value to me or in the way that this unfolding of mindfulness in our culture is happening,

I thought I would tell you some of the stories of this and try to weave them together with some teachings that are useful for us.

In one of the old Buddhist texts, after people have developed some deep understanding of how to live wisely, the Buddha said to them,

now go forth across the world in all directions and share what has been a benefit to you, what's been good in the beginning and in the middle and the end in your own experience.

In the language of the vernacular of wherever you go,

share what you found to be of value so that it's for the benefit and the well-being of others.

So there is a interesting thing that's happening culturally which is a spread of

mindfulness practices and teachings in all different forms in education and

and prison work and in sports and in business and so forth.
