Summary

On this week's show, James and Aaron Brabham chat with Ylon Schwartz: poker champion, chess master, and gamer extraordinaire.   He is without a doubt one of the most intriguing characters you're ever likely to encounter...   College Dropout Who Has Never Had a Real Job Wins $8 Million in Cash at the Poker Table...   If you watched the 2008 World Series of Poker, you may remember Ylon Schwartz and his trademark curly locks...   The day before the championship, Ylon was drowning in debt and in trouble with the law back in his hometown of New York City. From rock bottom, he redirected years of frustrations about money and women, channeling it towards winning the game...   ... and walked out of the Las Vegas Rio Casino with a cool $3.7 million in his pocket.   In fact, Ylon has won an estimated $8 million in cash, just from playing poker. Not bad for a college dropout who has never held a job.     Today, he's one of the most widely recognized and well-respected poker players in the world.  ------------What do YOU think of the show? Welcome to the James Altatro Show. Today I am really pleased to have Aaron Brabham co-hosting

0:17.7

with me. Aaron, welcome to the show. Man, James, it's an honor. You know I co-host our

0:23.6

sister podcast, Porter Stansberry Show. We had you on at the, I don't know, it was probably maybe

0:30.4

the first quarter of last year. We called you the best guest ever. I remember that. And then

0:38.8

you guys actually took a train up to New York City to play ping pong with me and you'd

0:44.6

destroyed me at ping pong. Well, look, let me tell you something. You know, I'm a competitive guy

0:50.1

and even though we were really recruiting you to join us, we didn't feel like it would be fair

0:55.9

if I just laid down. I do feel bad about that one overhand loop that I had that caught Claudia

1:03.6

right between the eyes. And she looked at you like murder this guy. And unfortunately I couldn't,

1:09.5

although I think that we have one tire, one close game. You actually did beat me one game.

1:15.0

Good, good. I won the championship, but you did beat me a game and we'll have plenty more of

1:21.0

those, which I'm looking forward to. So James, tell your listeners about what's burning on your

1:29.9

mind at the moment. You know, they always want to know what's inside your head because there's so

1:35.8

many things, but what's the one thing you really want them to know about this week? Well, you know,

1:40.5

something that I've been thinking about a lot based on the interviews I've done this week and

1:44.7

last week and some of these podcasts have already appeared. Some will appear in the coming weeks or

1:49.8

months, but there's the whole issue of mastery. And what does it take to master something and what

1:56.5

does it take to be the best in the world at something? And you know, we all feel, we all feel that we

2:02.3

need two things in our lives. We feel we need to have kind of connection or love with people. And

2:07.7

we also feel like we want to have a sense of achievement and that achievement could be anything from

2:12.6

you know, minor achievement to, you know, world mastery. And a lot of the guys that I've had on

2:19.4

the show recently have really been masters of their craft. And it's interesting for me to see
