Welcome everybody, it's Friday, September 26th, 2014. And by popular demand, we are doing a show on the subject of the transition from communism in Eastern Europe. We're going to take Poland as a case study. And who better to discuss this with us than our old friend whom you guys met pretty much just earlier

this week, Mateus Mahai, who is a professor of economics at the University of Vratsov in Poland.

He joins us today from Poland to discuss this subject with us.

Well, I'm glad to be here again, Tom.

Well, this time I want to talk about something much less technical, and I want to talk about something that you will know, I think,

both anecdotally and from a historical point of view. And that has to do with the transition of Poland away from communism,

and of course also the Polish experience under communism. Now, I'm sorry to ask you a personal

question like this on the air, so to speak, but do you mind if I ask how old a guy you are?

Yeah, that's fine. I was born in 1981.

I mean, you would still have memories living under communism then as a young boy, correct?
