Listen to me, they always had the money for reparations. They've always had it. I mean they had it in the

1800s. They had it in the 1900s. They had it in the 1900s. They had it in the 2000s, and they have the money for

reparations right now. For all of my life when we talk about reparations, the

question has always been who who's going to pay for it, where's the money

going to come from? If the coronavirus has exposed anything, it's that we have the money. What the United States always lacks, not just

for reparations, but for all types of real hardcore systemic change is the will.

Let me unpack it.

The breakdown. All of my life I've heard that the United States is the richest country in the history of the world.

You probably heard that.

I don't ever remember a time not hearing that.

But over those same years,

as oppressed people have demanded that this country write so many of its wrongs, the

excuses have always been endless.

And chief among them has always been that the United States simply does not have the money for something like reparations for 400 years of government sanctioned slavery.

It's not just about slavery.

It's about slavery, lynching, Jim Crow, oppression,

and discrimination that have continued until this very day.

The coronavirus pandemic has exposed that lie that the United States doesn't have the money.

It's exposed that lie more than any single moment in our lifetime.
