Senator Mark Warner, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, now embarked

on a very consequential investigation of Russian meddling in the election and all of its

implications.

But also a guy with an enormously interesting journey in business and politics.

I sat down with him this week after the State of the Union got his impressions of that,

the Russia probe and the challenges facing our economy in these times of rapid change.

Senator Warner, it's good to see you the day after the State of the Union.

We both had a late night last night.

Normally, I would begin these conversations from the beginning, which is your beginning.

And I want to get to your journey, but seeing as how it is so timely, I should get your

comments on a few things first, because people will be impatient to hear them.

And one is your reaction to the State of the Union.

It was kind of a kind of a spectacle given how driven the chamber was, and yet the theme

of the White House was unity.

Did you feel unified?

Almost anything but unified.
